An Open Letter about the Subject of Disinformation and Disruption within the 9/11 Truth Movement

An Open Letter about the Subject of Disinformation and Disruption within the 9/11 Truth Movement

By Arabesque

September 7, 2008

In my humble opinion, the issue of disinformation and disruption is of critical importance to the success of the 9/11 truth movement. In fact, as I have argued, the official story of 9/11 itself is disinformation; a deliberate attempt to mislead the public about the truth about 9/11. As I have said:

“The official story of 9/11 is disinformation, which means that the subject of disinformation is a vital and essential topic of 9/11 discussion. The opinion that disinformation is ‘extraordinarily low’ in this movement misses the mark by a long-shot since the very purpose of our movement is to expose the disinformation of the official story of 9/11. We cannot avoid the subject of disinformation.”

As controversial 9/11 researcher Jim Fetzer explains:

“One of the telling signs of many disinformation artists (who may or may not be gainfully employed by some ‘shadowy government agency’) is that a lot of their claims are simply too strong to be true… I am not suggesting that any of them works for the NSA, the CIA, or the FBI. That creates an exaggerated version of the situation as I see it that makes it easy to satirize. I have no idea why they are doing what they are doing. But there are ample grounds based upon past experience to believe they are abusing logic and language to mislead and deceive others about the state of research... On the basis of my experience with them, I believe this is deliberate. Their function appears to me to be obfuscation... There is a serious disinformation movement afoot, one that finds the work of those they attack to be too good to ignore. Disinformation… is the major obstacle to the search for truth about the death of JFK.”

Jim Fetzer, Signs of Disinformation

First of all, I want to make absolutely clear that I do not endorse or approve of allegations or speculation that cannot be proven. As I have written:

FBI director J. Edgar Hoover, in a letter entitled Disruption of the New Left explained that activist groups would be neutralized through various means including “the instigating of or the taking advantage of personal conflicts or animosities existing between New Left leaders… hostility should be exploited wherever possible…” According to Brian Glick, this would be partly achieved through infiltration, “[agents] and informers did not merely spy on political activists. Their main purpose was to discredit and disrupt… set up pseudo movement groups run by government agents.”… False and misleading accusations are frequently and effectively used by agent provocateurs. The most common accusation within the 9/11 truth movement is that a 9/11 researcher or activist is an “agent” working for the US government… 9/11 activists should be wary of any and all accusations that are not readily supported by credible evidence, facts, or documentation. Ultimately, false and misleading accusations create divisiveness and encourage hostility.

As I concluded in elsewhere the end result of disinformation or misinformation is the same, regardless of intent:

Those who care about the truth about 9/11 should also care about disinformation and misinformation. All 9/11 “official story” skeptics agree that the 9/11 commission report consists of substantial disinformation… The truth about 9/11 is of primary importance. If we accept this to be true, then it is also true that all misleading arguments are harmful to this cause. Therefore, the intent involved in promoting misleading arguments is irrelevant. Arguments based on disinformation and misinformation will almost always result in false, incomplete, inaccurate, and misleading conclusions.

In summary, there is a clear distinction between criticizing the actions of an individual and making allegations or accusations that can not be verified or proven. As well, we do not need to understand “intent” to understand that a statement itself is false or misleading. Following this premise, we do not need to understand “intent” to understand that promoting misleading claims or divisive behavior discredits and divides the 9/11 truth movement. As Jim Hoffman has explained:

“The scientific method depends on critique (peer review)… A culture hostile to critique is antagonistic to science and to the development of a persuasive, actionable case for investigation of the crimes of 9/11/01… Such a culture supports stereotypes of challenges to the official story as irrational and faith-based.”

I believe that the 9/11 truth movement not only has a right to be critical—it has a responsibility. First of all, while I do not endorse any claim that a 9/11 activists is an “agent” (as I explained above quite clearly), I believe that we have the responsibility as a truth movement to be critical. Furthermore, as I have established, it is indeed possible to be critical without making accusations.

One of the 9/11 researchers most criticized for promoting false and misleading information about 9/11 is Jim Fetzer. A co-founder of Scholars for 9/11 Truth, Fetzer has been harshly criticized for promoting information and theories about 9/11 widely regarded as disinformation.

It didn't start out that way. In fact, as Victoria Ashley explains, “James Fetzer started off appearing to support the work of Dr. Steven Jones and offered to help form a scholars group with Jones and a handful of others. Fetzer ran the website for the group, but within months Fetzer's increasingly speculative, bizarre and one-sided posts began to earn criticism from other researchers... By the end of about one year, the situation had gotten so dire that some of the members, including Steven Jones, decided they could no longer allow Fetzer to control the website, and decided to take a vote on what to do, since Fetzer refused to remove the offending posts."

9/11 blogger George Washington described the situation:

”...people hostile to rationality and the scientific method are close to completely taking over Scholars for 9/11 Truth. Such people claim that "space beams" destroyed the World Trade Center, that no planes hit the Twin Towers, and that the Twin Towers fell faster than free-fall speed. None of the scientists in the Scholars' group buy these theories. These people throw out false arguments and then -- when caught in an untruth -- start calling anyone who raises contrary facts names and attempts to bully them into submission.”

Was this an example of 9/11 disinformation? Some of these “theories” were supported by surprisingly sophisticated, but misleading interpretations of evidence. Many are extensively and exhaustively critiqued in the Journal of 9/11 Studies.

Fetzer wrote an open letter, and posted it on the Scholars website he controlled claiming:

"[Steven Jones] is now planning to take control of the web site from me. I have raised objections on moral, legal and intellectual grounds and I am categorically opposed to it. But he appears to be persisting in what might be described as a "hostile take over" to control Scholars. Because this is going on behind the scenes and you would otherwise be unaware of this scheme, I am publishing this open letter on st911.org."

Was this true? Ashley explains that, "Eventually, after several weeks involving hundreds of emails attempting to resolve the situation, a poll and subsequent vote was taken of the membership via email. All but ten of the more than two hundred members who participated in the vote voted to leave Fetzer's original group and form a new group." In other words, what Fetzer called a "hostile takeover" involving only Dr. Jones, was in reality the vast majority of the Scholars group wrestling over control of a website that Fetzer solely controlled. The "hostile takeover" claim was deliberately misleading; an obvious example of disinformation.

What is striking about the Scholars for 9/11 truth site is its uncritical approach to 9/11; every possible theory, no matter how implausible is pursued as valid inquiry. No possibilities are eliminated as Ashley explains, "Jim Fetzer is the primary force behind publicity and press releases for the claims of Judy Wood and Morgan Reynolds, advocating endless investigation into every possible scenario imaginable: '...once [Fetzer] had become convinced that thermite/thermate could not explain the extent and character of the destruction, he began encouraging investigation of alternative hypotheses, including lasers, masers, and plasmoids." What is even more striking is that every possible theory about 9/11 was encouraged on this website—with one interesting exception: a hit piece by Wood and Reynolds targeted Jones’ thermite evidence.

In summary, Fetzer co-founded scholars for 9/11 truth, but his actions eventually became so divisive and disruptive that only 10 people out of 200 decided to not leave Fetzer's group. It is worth asking if many of these scholars would have joined the original group in the first place if Fetzer had acted this way all along. Of course, this is extremely doubtful. Was this a "controlled demolition" of Scholars for 9/11 Truth?

Having established the above, I now turn to the subject of Kevin Barrett, a member of the “dynamic duo” radio show with Jim Fetzer. I will suggest it is past time to critically examine some of the statements that Kevin Barrett has made on behalf of the 9/11 truth movement. But before I do so, I will quote the Political Director of the Libertarian party who I think understands the issue quite clearly:

“In almost all cases, as Political Director I support the candidates as nominated by our state parties no matter how I feel about them. I cannot in good conscience do this in the case of Kevin Barrett. I do not have a problem with him or anyone as a so-called "9/11 Truther." I accept that people who express skepticism over the official story about what happened that day have a home in the LP. But Mr. Barrett goes well beyond that in two ways:

1) He frequently calls for the mass executions for treason for reporters who wrote articles with which he takes issue. I absolutely will not support any candidate who calls for mass murder of anyone, and am appalled that anyone who considers themselves Libertarian would advocate something so horrific.

2) He has made qualified statements of support for the preeminent Holocaust deniers in North America. I researched this extensively before coming to this conclusion. He seems to be playing both sides of that fence. I am and will always be totally intolerant of the Holocaust deniers….

I strongly urge the Wisconsin LP to not nominate Kevin Barrett for US Congress. Regardless of your decision however I will go out of my way to disassociate him from the national LP.

Yours in liberty - Sean Haugh Political Director”

Source: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/lpwi/message/23483

I will now quote Jim Hoffman’s 9/11 research website:

“MUJCA.com is apparently mostly the work Kevin Barrett. Before August 2007, 9-11 Research expressed concerns about Barrett's apparent sympathy with Holocaust deniers, based on previously published conversations with the OilEmpire.us webmaster archived here. However, we removed quotations from that conversation after Barrett wrote to us to express his belief that our excerpt of it was libelous. Barrett's public statements suggestive of violence are in stark contrast with 9-11 Research's policy stressing civility, verifiable information, and rational analysis. In 2007 Barrett's support for 9/11 junk science presented as 9/11 Truth typified by postings on James Fetzer’s website became increasingly obvious.”

Source: http://911research.wtc7.net/resources/web/activism.html

I have also been critical of Kevin Barrett for many of these statements. Let it be confirmed that nowhere do I call Kevin Barrett “an agent”. I know that many leaders in the 9/11 truth movement consider him a personal friend. I also understand that Kevin Barrett has helped spread awareness of the 9/11 truth movement. However, this does not mean that we cannot be critical of anything that he does. “Peer review” depends on the concept of being critical of our peers.

Now, what you may or not be aware about and might find interesting is Kevin Barrett’s apparent response to my criticism. Did he give an explanation for these statements? Did he apologize for them and say that he would discontinue making statements such as these? No—in fact his response is very interesting. Here is what he said about me on his radio show. I want to be clear that he does not say my name directly, but he is nevertheless referring to me personally:

“I know Tarpley was being sort of tongue in cheek [calling 9/11 truth activists Michael Wolsey, Cosmos, Arabesque, and Col. Jenny Sparks COINTELPRO agents]... but no. 1 that's just not a not a smart thing to do [Barrett proceeds to ignore his own good advice]--no. 2 even though I agree that two of the four people he named---that is the ones who had aliases who are afraid to operate under their own names--[disgusted voice] these people are obviously frauds and plants, bogus… those people I have no use for, whatever Webster wants to say about them I happily endorse. The people with real names that he called out were actually good people. Maybe misguided on this particular issue... throwing them in with these two false names--COINTELPRO people who are intelligence fronts or idiots, whoever they are was completely mad. It was really unfair to those two real human beings. I told him so, I gave him a really hard time after that.”

Let’s be clear about this: The only thing that I have done is report direct statements by Kevin Barrett himself. I have quoted his own words and I have provided links to the original sources. The apparent response to this was for Barrett to call me “COINTELPRO”—a serious allegation without any substance or evidence whatsoever on his radio show. Kevin Barrett is a “leader” of the 9/11 truth movement. His response to what I think is valid criticism (in fact, quoting his own words)—is to call me a COINTELPRO operative. This is obvious nonsense and this is slander. I do not feel it is necessary for me to defend myself, because many in the 9/11 truth movement have openly supported my work and in fact link to my blog as a credible resource. These sites include 911truth.org, 911research, and Scholars for 9/11 Truth and Justice.

This accusation is simply unacceptable in my humble opinion, coming from someone who is considered a “leader” of the 9/11 truth movement. Unfortunately, this is not unprecedented behavior as seen from some of our so-called “leaders” of the 9/11 truth movement. The obvious example for this is the Kennebunkport Warning controversy. Note that Mr. Barrett said above that 9/11 activists were “Maybe misguided on this particular issue”. Well, I would like to humbly disagree with Mr. Barrett here. What I and others repeatedly said in this context was that “divisive behavior is destructive and counterproductive to the 9/11 truth movement.” Who can honestly disagree that this is “misguided”? I would like to emphasize that our charges of incivility were completely ignored by many involved in the controversy or who claimed that we “opposed the warning” itself. I find this last charge particularly ridiculous because I posted my own research to support the warning. Ironically enough, we were accused of being “divisive” for pointing out divisive attacks, not to mention attacked viciously with copious amounts of slander. 9/11 activists were even targeted by a Youtube harassment campaign in which literally over a hundred youtube videos spread personal information including phone numbers and addresses along with encouragement of harassment. These videos even included accusations that members of the 9/11 truth movement were “Al Qaeda” members and even “perpetrators” of the 9/11 attacks. One of the individuals spreading these videos belonged to Captain May’s Ghost troop. Captain May himself for his part accused me and others of being COINTELPRO professionals during this controversy. All of my claims above are verifiable and I have taken the care to verify them.

I will quote Martin Luther King who said, “A time comes when silence is betrayal.” I would thank people like Kevin Ryan, Jim Hoffman, Jon Gold, and others who did speak out in support of the 9/11 activists were obviously and transparently being slandered and attacked. In retrospect, I found it very striking and surprising that such obvious attacks such as the above could occur and the response would be mostly indifference. Or instead, the entire controversy was framed as a “personal” or “equal dispute”. Is it an “equal dispute” when a country is invaded without provocation? Is it a “personal dispute” when Bill O’Reilly attacks 9/11 truth activists and calls them dangerous? It is a “personal dispute” when protesters are attacked at a peaceful protest? No, it is not—it is simply a one-sided and unprovoked attack.

Regarding “controversial theories”, it can be observed that there is “disagreement” and then there is “ignoring criticism”. Remember, peer review depends on critique of our “peers”. Let me quote the words of Dr. Judy Wood who when questioned about the Directed Energy Weapon Theory stated:

“I do not find it necessary to respond directly to the interview criticism in either its original content or in the further criticism in the new letter. My line of research in furtherance of DEW causal theory has taken a different direction that neither benefits nor suffers from public criticism of the theory. Opinions on the matter differ and I respect those who have differing opinions.”

In other words, Judy Wood's response to the extensive and thorough criticism of her theory is essentially a non-response. Dr. Jenkins observed with irony, "Amazingly, [Wood] explicitly claims that her research has now moved beyond the original claims that were so suspect in the first place, thus neutralizing all past and present scientific scrutiny... [however,] Wood has repeated the same points in contention.” This is also strikingly similar to the approach taken by defenders of the official story of 9/11 itself who might say, “We simply disagree and we respect those who have differing opinions” while refusing to directly respond to those questioning the official story of 9/11. Does this mean that we should simply go home since the U.S. government will not address our concerns? Unfortunately, I think we know the answer to this rhetorical question. As someone who has actually taken the time to “debate” and examine the “theories” of “Directed Energy Weapons” and “TV fakery”, I can tell you that they are not only complete nonsense, but that the theorists themselves completely refuse to even acknowledge or respond to serious criticism of these theories. This is not a question of “open mind”, it is a question of a “closed one”—a refusal to discuss or acknowledge counterarguments. This is no longer simply “disagreement” but willful and deliberate avoidance of debate or criticism.

Here is an excerpt from a radio interview with Jim Fetzer interviewing Judy Wood while discussing the aforementioned "directed energy weapon theory":

Jim Fetzer: “I must say I think we’re finding out Judy, what happened on 9/11. I’m just blown away by your work. This is the most fascinating development in the history of the study of 9/11… I’m going to make a wild guess Judy; I’m going to presume that these [directed energy] beams had to be located in Building 7?”

Judy Wood: “Nope. I don’t think so.”

Fetzer: “Planes?”

Judy Wood: “No… I think it’s very likely it’s in orbit.”

Fetzer: “Oh Really?? Oh ho ho ho ho! Oh Judy. Oh my, oh my, oh my. This is huge… this is huge Judy.”

Reprehensor explains that, “the DEW proponents only plow ahead, indifferent to reason… What has support of this idea by a handful of people done for 9/11 Truth? By far (to date) the most damaging thing has been that Morgan Reynolds and Judy Wood attempted to take their ideas to court. United States District Judge George B. Daniels dismissed their complaints, with prejudice.” Quoting Jim Fetzer who says, “It’s obvious to me that you have to consider all the possible alternatives,” Reprehensor responds, “Yes, you CAN exclude some. The most improbable, the most unlikely, the impossible, the absurd ... grossly obvious disinformation, you CAN exclude this nonsense from your 9/11 horizons.”

It is true that the corporate sponsored media will ridicule the 9/11 truth movement regardless of what it promotes. However, this does not therefore mean that we should give them as much ammunition as possible to discredit by association the real questions and contradictions of the 9/11 "official story". This is a disservice to the family members who wanted their real questions answered in the first place. As explained by Thomas Pynchon, “If they can get you asking the wrong questions, they don't have to worry about answers.” I believe that the 9/11 truth movement has to be aware of how it can be discredited instead of simply taking a passive approach to dealing with the issue of disinformation and misinformation. Otherwise, we are playing right into the hands of those who wish to discredit the 9/11 truth movement itself.

This issue is not simply limited to the problem of “controversial theories”. Ad hominem attacks and disruption are an equally important issue. Should members of 9/11 truth movement demand accountability from its leaders when they engage in destructive behavior and promote damaging information or speculation? I think the answer is clear: we cannot afford not to.

The Sound of Disinformation: What Will They Say Next?

The Sound of Disinformation: What Will They Say Next?

By Arabesque

Disinformation is deliberately misleading information. In the 9/11 truth movement, this has been taken to the extreme. Often, this results in moments of hilarious, absurd, and unintentional comedy. Did they really say these things? What were they thinking? Listen for yourself and find out.

Jim Fetzer shows his love for... Judy Wood and beams from space?

This is huge… this is huge Judy.” [source: Jim Fetzer interviews Judy Wood, Non-Random Thoughts on RBN Live, November 11, 2006]

Morgan Reynolds embarrasses the real 9/11 truth movement by making the bogus claim that there were no planes used on 9/11.

"There were no big boeing crashes... I encourage everyone to do a frame by frame, penetration of the south tower, and what you will see is a fake, cartoon display. An aluminum plane cannot go through a building like the south tower was, as if it were thin air. We don't really understand how they did that... they are contrived." [source: Fox News, Youtube, Dr. Reynolds exposes 9/11 TV fakery on FoxNews, September 13, 2006]

Webster Tarpley rants about Arabesque, Cosmos, Michael Wolsey, truthaction.org and others in the Kennebunkport Warning controversy:

Who opposes the Kennebunkport warning? We discovered going through this that if you take all the slanderous filth, counter-organizing, disinformation and so forth, about two-thirds of it comes from about half a dozen people as far as I can see. And let's tell you who they are. First of all, you have to look at the site called truthaction.org. As far as I can see about two-thirds of the site appears to be devoted to slanders and vilification of the Kennebunkport Warning. This shows what one can only call the typical style of the counter-gang... they mix in a huge dose of anonymous slander, vilification, denigration, calumny, libel, and defamation. The leading poison pen seems to be an individual called Cosmos... Anonymous slanders are his stock and trade. He wants to slander you and vilify you from the shadows, spread disinformation, distortions. These are the venom-mongers, the merchants of pus who like to operate from behind the scenes. These are the wreckers and saboteurs... Then we have somebody else called Colonel Jenny Sparks in quotation marks... Another poison pen slanderer, another wrecker and saboteur. The only questions we have are, is this COINTELPRO, is this the current style of the FBI counter-gang? So here we have Cosmos who shows you he looks like he's trying to imitate Che Guavara or a member of the Sons of David baseball team. He's hiding behind a huge beard, looks like the Italian aviators in A Night at the Opera... Michael Wolsey, Visibility 9/11. He appears of course in shades, he's got some cool shades on, he doesn’t want you to see him... Another person who has been active in these slander operations is somebody called Arabesque... I think [his] disinformation department is absolutely admirable. He seems to have all the disinformation you could want. He's pushing it and peddling it on this sleazy, smelly website. So thats arabesque911.blogspot.com... These people have practiced a constructive fraud on public opinion. I think they operate with multiple pseudonyms. We do not know who they are. Colonel Jenny Sparks for all we know may be a cigar-chomping FBI agent or a branch of Shin Bet somewhere in the Occupied Territories or a subcommittee of the National Security Council. We simply do not know... These are the poison pens and the slander snipers and these are the people you have to watch out for. [source: Webster Tarply, The Genesis World Report with Webster Tarpley, September 6, 2007]

Webster Tarpley praises... Nico Haupt?

Nico Haupt… is one of the leading researchers in the 9/11 truth movement. Indeed, he’s been called the enfant terrible of the 9/11 truth movement research. He’s always controversial, but he’s always on the cutting edge of research. He is the author of the 9/11 encyclopedia. He conducted for quite a while the 911skeptics.blogspot. I would point out that no matter how controversial some of his ideas may sound, over the years a lot of his discoveries have been indeed been incorporated into what is the conventional and accepted wisdom about these matters… Nico is the one who practically invented the terms LIHOP and MIHOP… Finally he is one of the leading people in the research on how the news-film of 9/11, that you saw on CNN and the other networks was doctored. He also has some… very controversial, but extremely heuristic findings about implications about doctored news-film and other considerations for what actually happened on 9/11… He has some very very interesting research results… [source: Webster Tarpley, World Crisis Radio, March 25 2006 ]

Jim Fetzer almost cries and gets emotional about TV fakery research

When I discovered a scientist of the caliber of Judy Wood... [long pause--gets emotional] that I've spent so much time seeking to open minds. To broaden the imagination, to consider alternatives that one might prefer were not the case... [voice hoarse] And I'll say today... when it comes to the study of this video fakery, you've seen a brilliant, scientific objective analysis from this man... Ace Baker. ...I say that between the breath of study provided by September Clues and... Ace Baker, that there's a prima facie case that has to be overwhelmed by superior evidence if it can be produced--not only of the existence of video fakery, but the overwhelming probability to manage events... the whole thing through the media without planes--I'm telling you the evidence is growing... you have to take this seriously... we're down the rabbit hole. This whole thing has been a massive deception... it's objective and provable! ...we had Morgan Reynolds whose been pilloried like practically no one else has been pilloried for even advancing the idea that there's no planes... by God... we could listen to a patient explanation of what really happened in terms of methodical analysis of actual footage... and the point was proven! And it was brilliant! And you were here! You were here! Who is Captain May?

Who is Captain May?

A supporter of "next 9/11" research and articles, antisemitism, numerology, and accusations of COINTELPRO against 9/11 researchers/activists.

By Arabesque

"Don’t call me Deep Throat... call me Captain May." Captain Eric May

Who is "Captain" Eric May?

"Captain May, a former Army intelligence and public affairs officer, is the founder and commander of Ghost Troop, a 300-strong unit comprised of military and police veterans and active duty, along with civilian research/activists. He is on a self-declared "mission of conscience" to oppose the Bush War Cabal."
Ghost Troop is comprised of:
"former military and interested civilians, many with a background in recon and intelligence... working on the analysis of the 911-to-be (ergo 9112B) event which has been pre-programmed into the public via the media as a matter of WHEN, not IF."

While the above citation claims that Ghost Troop consists of “former” members of the military, another article reveals that there are "current" members:

"Commanded by Captain Eric H. May, Ghost Troop consists of current and past high-level military professionals who claim expertise at reading governmental strategies and predicting what will happen next. Cracking embedded codes plays a significant role, says Captain May, as does utilizing a highly sophisticated network of intelligence operatives and analyzing events that perhaps have a hidden agenda. [...]

CAPT. MAY: Ghost Troup [sic] is really an analytic group. As a trained intelligence officer I serve as the chief analyst. As a trained public affairs officer I serve as the unit spokesman. What I put out is the distilled intelligence product of many Ghost Troops. They send me the reports and sometimes I do a little back-and-forth with them. They keep me informed, and I polish my ideas and Ghost Troop analysis with top experts in the field, sometimes across many countries and several continents. [...]

ICONOCLAST: You have said that you already have informants imbedded [sic] in various governmental and corporate entities. Are you seeking to expand upon these?

CAPT. MAY: At all times. [...] Some of the most prominent people in the 911 Truth Movement, for example, are Ghost Troops. We had a U.S. ambassador in the unit as chaplain for the first three years."

Captain May has been predicting the "next 9/11" since at least 2004, and his personal bio gives his background in the military. He claims to have "spent five years with Houston's 75th Division (USAR) as an Opposing Forces Controller, meaning that I learned better than most -- even most experts -- how to run contrarian scenarios."

Captain may is a supporter, signer and endorser of Webster Tarpley's Kennebunkport Warning of a potential false flag attack:

"The Kennebunkport Warning is short and strident at 200 words. It has been posted widely on the Internet, and in last week's edition of The Lone Star Iconoclast. Since then, though, it has come under sustained fire from a swiftboat attack aimed at its authors and signers, and even its word choices. Every aspect of the document has been called into question -- except its content."
[see Kennebunkport Warning Controversy for a response to these claims]

Not only has May endorsed the Kennebunkport warning, but previous warnings as well. In fact, he has been interviewed on the radio by fellow supporters of the Kennebunkport Warning including Jim Fetzer, Kevin Barrett, and Webster Tarpley. Morgan Stack, yet another Kennebunkport warning signer/promoter features his work on his website 911truth.ie as noted below by Jim Hoffman. Radio interviews include:

"· Captain May was interviewed by both Jim Fetzer and Kevin Barrett on their radio shows about a potential new 9/11.

· "Captain May's interview on Dr. Kevin Barrett's radio show discussing his article Next 9/11, Summer, 2007? (7-24-07)"

· "In his July 3 interview with Dr. Kevin Barrett, Captain May addressed the prospects and probabilities of a July false flag attack on U.S. soil, and of a consequent escalation of the Mideast War (Iraq and Afghanistan) to World War Three (Syria and Iran, et al.)."

Other Radio interviews and a list of articles by May are numerous and the “next 9/11” theme is strongly emphasized. A sample of article titles advocating this theme include:

· A Nuclear Nightmare - The Portland Plot

· Stage Set for 'New Pearl Harbor'? Only a domestic terror attack can save discredited Bush

· Loose Nukes Looming Near By

· 911-2B: American Nightmare & Neocon Fantasy

· 911 Truth and Texas Terror

It can be noted, that one of the functions of disinformation is to discredit true information by associating it with false/bad/misleading information. A famous example of this is known as the “the boy who cried wolf” fable.

Captain May is also an endorser of numerology in articles such as “9/11, 3/11, 7/11 Terror Dates: Is there an ‘embedded code,’ and can we use it to save ourselves?”:

"· The 9 and 3 month numbers were square and square root of each other

· There were exactly 911 days between the dates 9/11 (2001) and 3/11 (2004)

· There was a reported body count from the Madrid bombings of 199 (which was 911 with the numbers "flipped" — 9’s to 1’s; 1’s to 9’s: 911/199)

· There was even a reversion of the body count downward (who got up and left the morgue?) to 191 — which is an anagram (mix-up) of 911!"

Captain May has been using numerology to predict the "next 9/11" since at least 2004:

We're either closer to a geopolitical adjustment (i.e., reducing our (sinking) Middle Eastern footprint), or just that much closer to 911 (the sequel), which I've been predicting as 9/27 (i.e., 9/9, i.e., 9=9=18; i.e., 1=8 = 9). Again, 9/27 will be the 1111st day since 911 (which was 11 years from the announcement of the New World Order by King George XLI).
According to Captain May, understanding numerology is important because the planners of the next false flag attack:
"like to communicate with this Illuminist number code and the media is actually passing the information on to the many levels of members, alerting them of the potential dates and times of planned acts of terror... They are also using the repetitive name game, another way of feeling superior. Just think about it: Oklahoma City, Okla., New York, N.Y. and now maybe Texas City, Texas."
Using numbers and name games to predict the next 9/11? Jim Hoffman observes that David Ray Griffin's appearance in Ireland was canceled because of Captain May:

"In Ireland David Ray Griffin's appearance was canceled and he was labeled anti-Semetic due to posts by "Captain Eric May" being featured on Morgan Stack's 911truth.ie website.
* May is yet another "former" intelligence person who advocates numerology to expose the 9-11 coverup.
* May is openly anti-semetic, describing the media and Hollywood as 'controlled by the Jews'."

A brief and short internet search on articles by Captain May reveals that he is antisemitic:

"In this case it is the controlled media, who use Jewish Cabalism, and the "Bush Boyz" (criminal officials and agents), who use Masonic coding, and they're reporting their handiwork in the Great Plains! . . . I wonder why the Jewish film industry would make a mistake like that, rewriting the plot of reality to convince us -- with a powerful movie -- not to obsess about the prospect of embedded code in the mainstream Jewish news media?" - Captain Eric H. May

"Dear Mr. Green, I read with great interest your essay "Holocaust Fundamentalism - You WILL Believe" just now, and am eager to forward it to Ghost Troop, my associates (military veterans and civilian supporters). We have come to be astute in the importance of body-count numbers to political purposes, and aren't a bit surprised to find that thoughtful men like you are questioning "official reality" in the Holocaust... We are specifically rooted in the matter of the current Zionist Media efforts to keep the real number of US dead GI's covered up in the Middle East. The same forces that want to exagerate [sic] the suffering of the Jews on the one hand want to minimize the suffering of the Christian Army they have duped into killing Moslems. […] If you told me you thought you found an exaggeration factor of "5" (in the Holocaust), I'd just say it matched the minimization factor of five (in the Middle Eastern War). Captain May / Ghost Troop"

"Believe me, all, those of us, like Ghost Troop, who are intellectual opponents of the Jewish Zionist kulturkampf -- which we call the infowar -- are the rational opposition. I provide one stark link to our unit infowar history, from this summer, when we were involved in what we coded "Ghost Troop 9112B." It's from a most valued international infowar ally who stabbed us in the back for trying to hold true to the Constitution, when he and his cult wanted us to renounce that prudent pact to join a growing international -- and revolutionary -- movement against the Jews http://100777.com/node/1373

"No question about it, the American People are being readied for another Al Qaida attack -- and they have been told that it will be in the heartland of the Homeland months ago. The WMD attack, high death tool and ensuing tower collapse to top it all off will achieve the kind of "iconic" psychological effect necessary to carry the war spirit to the nuclear level necessary to impose a Middle Eastern Final Solution -- for the equal benefit of the co-founders, the Military Industrial Complex and the Israel Lobby. The first target for the American "counterattack" is obvious. Iran is already being shaped into a monster by Judas Journalists with their headquarters in New York and their heartbeat in Tel Aviv. The best propagandists in broadcast and print first insinuated -- and now insist -- that Iran is a "nuclear threat" bent on a "nuclear confrontation," that might have to be met by a "nuclear option." Any idea is worth hanging a "nuclear" label on, and any excuse will do to start a nuclear war!

"I re-include the press release we of Ghost Troop have issued, giving confirmed "news" that the Zionist-controlled US Media has repressed for 30 months, in complete disregard of the tenets of the Constitution and the ethics of journalism… Remember Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir's comments to the World Islamic Conference back in the fall of 2003? He said that US Jews dominated US cultural and political life -- and given that 80% of the Neocons are Jewish, it's not my fault -- nor Mahathir's -- that his remarks are right on! [...] Regards and thanks, CPTMAY"

"Our Ghost Troop mission of conscience began with honoring our dead comrades in the services who were receiving no just counting by the propaganda press. That mission has been covered widely in the international media and US alternative media, and is summed up nicely (I think) by National Vanguard. We became creative in finding ways around the Israel Lobby's propaganda arm (they call it the media) to pursue just honors for our fallen brothers and sisters, who are dying in far greater numbers than are being reported.

Captain May's “Jews control the media” theme of was subtly repeated in his piece “Amerika Über Alles” — Our Nazi Nation” posted on 911blogger by Carol Brouillet:

"Neither Hitler nor Bush could have effected their radical plans without a party full of functionaries and a compliant national media, of course. Hitler relied on his “Nazi” party, a word derived from the name of his National Socialist organization. He had a brilliant individual named Joseph Goebbels to control the Reich Propaganda Ministry and rally the public behind Nazi policies. Bush relied on his “Nozi” party, a word derived from “Zionism,” with the first four letters Z-i-o-n remixed into N-o-z-i. He had a brilliant cartel of Zionists to control the American Mainstream Media and rally the public behind Nozi policies."

Another article by May entitled “Jews for Torture” was hidden after breaking guidelines at Indymedia.

This is only a short sample of Captain May's work and antisemitism. Mark Rabinowitz from Oilempire.us questions why an anti-semite is promoted by websites like NY911Truth and MUJCA, supposedly a part Jewish alliance:

"Why does both MUJCA and NY911Truth feature a blatant anti-semite on their sites? ( a google search returns 14 entries [on MUJCA]) He sounds reasonable enough on these pages, but apparently no one has read a single other thing the supposed "former" intelligence Captain speculating about numerology has written. One would imagine that the Jewish members of the Muslim Christian Jewish Alliance might take offense, but apparently they haven't noticed either."

Captain May appeared on Webster Tarpley's radio show to accuse Jenny Sparks and Arabesque of being "trained COINTELPRO professionals", "organized COINTELPRO cells", etc.

"I wasn't referring to Cosmos in my comments about the disinformation efforts being conducted at 9/11Blogger. Candidly, I can't remember any particular comments by Cosmos. As for the equally pseudonymic Jenny Sparks and Arabesque, it's easier for me to have an informed opinion about them. Were I not busier with more important things, I think I could come up with a pretty good article identifying those who are either actual COINTELPRO or merely useful idiots being manipulated by COINTELPRO, and perhaps even grouped them according to the cells within which they work. In some cases over the last four years, my associates and I have even been able to trice [sic] COINTELPRO agents back to their FBI handlers." http://www.mail-archive.com/political-research@yahoogroups.com/msg09517.html http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Chicago911inquest/message/180

[see Kennebunkport Warning Controversy for a response to these claims]

These comments are also attributed to an email by Captain Eric May:

"I believe that... the more prolific of our antagonists in the Kennebunkport Warning matter were professional agitators. To take one example, 'Colonel Jenny Sparks' was harassing both the Oregon Truth Alliance and Portland Nuclear Inquest (which I lead) in the weeks before the Kennebunkport Warning. In typical agitator fashion, she claimed to do so in order to defend the 911 Truth Movement and debunk our "alarmism" for alerting Portland to the dangers the nuclear simulation, Operation Noble Resolve. She and cohorts infiltrated both group lists and hurled monkey wrenches in every direction before getting the boot. As a lasting memorial of the encounter, they then set up their own user group, made up of a mixed set of a dozen agitators and useful idiots, largely dedicated to damning me and browbeating [other local activists]. Every once in awhile I read it for amusement."

And these accusations of COINTELPRO were found in a radio interview with Webster Tarpley:

"Uh, with Jenny Sparks I think you're at both ends--I think she uses professional cointelpro cooperation and then useful idiots where ever they can be found... They're... trained cointelpro professionals--agitprop activists--and their job is not to produce positive analysis. If you can look far and near for any article of any consequence, by any of these people and you'll not find it. But what you'll find is a constant rat-a-tat of criticism against anyone else's work. And that is because their mission is not to develop the area of 911 analyses, or the next 911 prediction--it's to impede 911 analysis and prediction. So, these are classic disinformation tactics… you have to realize there are organized cointelpro cells… I've run into half a dozen of them. Anything from military professionals who went by rank, although would not sign their work, to, you know, cute synonyms like Arabesque or Jenny Sparks who would not sign their work… they usually coalesce and target specific points. You have to see them as military assets." [Note: Captain May has never provided any evidence to support these false allegations. See Kennebunkport Warning Controversy for a response to these claims]

The Kennebunkport Warning Controversy was characterized by accusations without evidence such as these. Indeed, Captain May was not the only one to make these allegations of COINTELPRO against investigators of the Kennebunkport Warning. After Captain May, Webster Tarpley, and others made these allegations for more than two months, an "Internet Cointelpro Alert" was posted:

"An effort is being made in some quarters to falsely attribute these faked and counterfeit postings, emails, and videos to Webster G. Tarpley, Bruce Marshall, Captain Eric May, and to other persons sympathetic to the Philadelphia Platform and/or the Kennebunkport Warning. Any such attempted attribution is a lie."

[note: see a list of confirmed emails, statements, radio interviews, Google videos, etc. by Webster Tarpley and his associates]

In fact, we have tied some of these videos to an associate of Captain May. "Ozzy bin Oswald", a member of Captain May's Ghost Troop email list was responsible for posting some of these videos, some of which accusing Arabesque, Cosmos, Jenny Sparks and others of belonging to Al Qaeda. These videos often make use of radio interviews by Captain May, and Webster Tarpley in the background.

You can see some of these videos at Ozzy bin Oswald's youtube account, which is linked to on one of his posts on Captain May’s Ghost Troop email list. Many of these videos by Ozzy bin Oswald reference the aliases of posters of other Al Qaeda accusation videos. While this is not a direct connection to Captain May, it is a connection nonetheless.

Summary

Captain May advocates antisemitism, holocaust denial, numerology, frequent warnings of another 9/11 attack, and accusations of COINTELPRO against legitimate 9/11 researchers frequently with dubious misinformation and often no evidence at all. His work is promoted by 9/11 activists who have a history of promoting and advocating controversial claims, researchers, and divisive behavior. "Guilt by association" is also a typical ploy used to discredit activist groups and the 9/11 truth movement is especially noteworthy for attempts to associate it with holocaust denial and antisemitism. In fact, this could be used as a deliberate strategy to discredit valid 9/11 research, evidence, and unanswered questions.

The Kennebunkport Warning: Hoax?

The Kennebunkport Warning: Hoax?

By Arabesque

August 31, 2007

Updated: October 1, 2007

The Kennebunkport Warning claimed that a group of 9/11 and anti-war activists joined together to sign a document warning of a false flag terror attack and resulting war with Iran. Like most, I first believed that the Kennebunkport Warning and the signatures were legitimate.

While the warning may or may not be valid, the signatures of Cindy Sheehan, Dahlia S. Wasfi, and others have been contested.

When initially released, the warning claimed "massive evidence" without supplying any. Curiosity was justifiably invoked, so I independently provided a link to my own research. A few days later, Tarpley supplied his evidence, which included a fake “90 days” warning by FOX news—an exact word for word reprint of an article published in 2005. While I strongly agree that is there is a serious risk of an attack on Iran (and by extension a "trigger" to justify it), I strongly disagree with the possible unethical use of signatures to support such a warning. The question of whether another false flag attack will occur is uncertain, but there is very strong evidence that the Bush administration intends to go to war with Iran.

The Kennebunkport Warning became a controversy for two reasons:

1) The denial of signatures by the anti-war activists
2) The use of incivility against the anti-war activists by Webster Tarpley and his associates

Initially, John Leonard, Webster Tarpley’s book publisher claimed that "as far as Dahlia Wasfi is concerned, I was a guest on Webster's radio show last night so I heard Bruce Marshall and Janice Weir say they saw her sign the statement." The controversy however is not the fact that a document was signed—the controversy is over which document was signed.

Dahlia S. Wasfi, MD claimed "I signed a statement in Kennebunkport to endorse the impeachment of Dick Cheney, but my signature has been used on this "Warning" without my consent. While I was humbled to have my signature misappropriated with such prominent voices as Cindy Sheehan, Cynthia McKinney, and Jamilla El-Shafei, none of us signed that document." Elsewhere she stated "I don't know about the validity of this ‘warning,’ but the people who put this list together were dishonest about signatories. They took our signatures for something else and put it on this. Very weird."

Cindy Sheehan via MySpace called the warning “shady”, and confirmed that "the same thing happened to me as happened to dahlia." A few days later, this joint release was posted, further suggesting that an alternative document involving impeachment was signed:

“Each of us were approached during the rally at the Kennebunkport event on August 25, 2007, to sign a statement calling for the immediate impeachment of Vice President Dick Cheney. Since then, the statement has been altered and posted on the internet, making it appear as if we have evidence that this administration will carry out a "false-flag terror operation." None of us have such evidence, and therefore, none of us signed a statement stating that we do. We wish the authors of the document well in continuing much needed investigations of all aspects of 9/11.

Signed:
Jamilla El-Shafei
Cindy Sheehan
Dahlia Wasfi
Ann Wright
”

Another alleged signer named Kris further corroborated the claim that the document involved “impeachment”:

“I DEFINITELY did NOT sign a paper with the Kennebunk Warning physically on it. My memory is of signing a piece of paper that simply had columns for signatures and email addresses, and perhaps a brief statement calling for impeachment at the top… I personally feel that while the Bush administration is certainly MORALLY capable of orchestrating a 911 false flag attack, and that there are definitely unanswered questions about 911, I have seen no evidence which proves it to me.”

From these statements, we have the following story:

1. The alleged signers did not sign the Kennebunkport warning

2. The alleged signers did not see the “massive evidence” declared in the Kennebunkport Warning

3. The actual document signed involved impeachment

The first and third claims are key, but the Kennebunkport warning states in its third sentence: “we call on the House of Representatives to proceed immediately to the impeachment of Cheney.”

With five individuals claiming that they did not sign the warning, and providing essentially the exact same story that a document involving only impeachment was signed—it is very hard to believe that they are not telling the truth and dismiss their accounts. However, a scanned copy of the signatures eventually emerged providing yet more intrigue and controversy. Admittedly, it is not confirmed at this point that the signatures were taken from another document and put onto the Kennebunkport Warning as the anti-war activists allege. However, the five corroborated statements should not be dismissed easily.

The question becomes, if the signatures on the Kennebunkport Warning are not legitimate as alleged by the anti-war activists, what is its purpose? Is its purpose to discredit future warnings, or even the Kennebunkport Warning itself? Is its purpose to discredit anti-war activists by associating them with controversial 9/11 activists like Jim Fetzer and Judy Wood and their space beams and TV fakery? Is its purpose to create division between 9/11 truth activists and the anti-war movement?

The Kennebunkport warning was not the first of its kind. In fact, many of the principals involved in supporting the Kennebunkport warning had issued previous warnings, press releases, and radio interviews about the subject of another false flag attack in the months before the Kennebunkport controversy. In particular, Scholars for 9/11 Truth issued a press release that claimed “a fake attack on the US” was looming, Webster Tarpley issued a previous warning entitled “Cheney Determined To Strike This Summer”, and Captain May issued several warnings in Portland about a possible nuclear false flag incident. In response to these articles, May was interviewed by both Kevin Barrett and Jim Fetzer on their radio shows multiple times to discuss the possibility of another false flag attack.

Many of those who supported previous warnings dispute the claims of the anti-war activists. Among these are Kevin Barrett according to Captain May and Webster Tarpley, an author of the Warning. Kevin Barrett says that "it is overwhelmingly probable that the people who say they never signed the warning are lying, and that they signed, then had second thoughts and backed out... or, just possibly, did not fully digest what they had signed when they signed it." Laurie Dobson and others claim (or rather, insinuate without evidence) that “it is obvious to me that the big name people are afraid.” This claim does not appear to have merit since no evidence is given to support it, and Cindy Sheehan had appeared several times on Alex Jones’ radio show and elsewhere to discuss her 9/11 questions and support for a new investigation saying that the collapse of the twin towers looked “like a controlled demolition.” In fact, Sheehan even warned of a “distinct possibility” of a US-sponsored false flag attack. She has never retracted these comments due to “fear”. An important distinction here is the difference between “distinct possibility” and “massive evidence” as alleged in the Kennebunkport warning. The other alleged signers all indicated that they supported another 9/11 investigation. These facts seem to suggest that the possibility of retracted signature from the warning due to “fear” is implausible and unlikely.

Craig Hill claims to be one of the real signers of the warning. According to Michael Wolsey on 911blogger, "I just spoke with Craig Hill, treasurer of the Green Party of Vermont who verified that he is indeed a signatory of this document and indicated to me that the document is very real." Chris Emery, who also signed the Kennebunkport warning, requested his name be taken off of the document after witnessing the treatment of the alleged singers by Webster Tarpley and his associates.

Strangely, four of the promoters of the warning have ties to Lyndon LaRouche; a political figure who has been involved in promoting violent actions against activists in the past. Webster Tarpley, one of the main figures in the controversy has a strong connection with LaRouche. Bruce Marshal (one of the originators of the warning), Craig Hill (calling the anti-war activists liars), and Laurie Dobson (claiming to be an “eyewitness” to the signings) are all connected to LaRouche. By coincidence or conspiracy, most of the inflammatory comments and insinuations about “fearful signers” against the anti-war activists are coming from LaRouche associates.

The connection to LaRouche is not the only strange association. Craig Hill says, “the immediate aim of the militarization of space via nuclear weapons and other exotic dangers orbiting Earth, pointing down and controlling entire societies under threat they, too, may suffer that which Dr Judy Wood persuasively suggests occurred in NYC on 9/11.” Warning signers Morgan Stack, Jim Fetzer, Daniel Abrahamson, and Webster Tarpley, and to a lesser extent, Kevin Barrett have also supported the highly dubious theory of directed energy weapons (DEW) on 9/11. It can be observed that few 9/11 Truth activists claim that the WTC towers were destroyed with Space Weapons and the theory appears to be a deliberate ‘guilt by association’ Trojan horse. The theory has been debunked many times and is likely deliberate disinformation. An amusing and embarrassing mp3 excerpt of Judy Wood and Jim Fetzer discussing “beams” from space reveals the credibility of its advocates.

Why promote ideas like directed energy weapons and create controversy over signatures on a document? Discrediting and dividing activist groups is a historical part of FBI CoIntelPro operations and the Kennebunkport Warning Hoax could possibly be another stunning example. The purpose of CoIntelPro is to “divide, confuse, [and] weaken in diverse ways” activist groups. Effective ways of accomplishing this include divisive accusations, personal attacks, and disruptive behavior. A likely previous example was the “controlled demolition” of Scholars for 9/11 truth by Jim Fetzer, who offered his signature to the warning. Fetzer was interviewed by Tarpley shortly after the Warning was submitted to 911blogger and proclaimed, "Scholars stands with you. You may make Scholars for 9/11 Truth a signatory to your Kennebunkport Warning. [...] Keep up the great work! You are a clear, strong voice for truth!” Jim Fetzer then issued a press release entitled "Scholars endorse 'The Kennebunkport Warning': Report ominous signs of a privatized takeover of the nation."

After the controversy of faked signatures emerged, Webster Tarpley, the supplier of the “massive evidence” outrageously asserted:

"Some of the signers, under the obvious threats of totalitarian forces, are lying in appalling fashion about what they signed and if they signed. You can see for yourself from the facsimile who signed. We need to move beyond these wretched individuals.[sic]"

Why would Tarpley attack Cindy Sheehan and others in this manner? Why his association with Jim Fetzer, (who has a history of disinformation and divisive behavior) so soon after this controversy erupted? Why do Tarpley and three others have connections to LaRouche? Similarly, Mr. Craig Hill (who referenced Judy Wood and Space Weapons) has also attacked Cindy Sheehan and the anti-war activists suggesting that this could be a deliberate CoIntelPro style attempt to divide the peace and 9/11 truth movements. While it may simply be dismissed as bad behavior, it is also a typical divide and conquer strategy of CoIntelPro to create division within activist groups through (false) accusations and allegations. In contrast, Cindy Sheehan and others have refrained from attacking the originators of the warning and have showed support for 9/11 investigations. In my view, this is very strong evidence that we should take their claims seriously.

Soon after voicing our support for the anti-war activists, Webster Tarpley prolifically accused Kennebunkport warning investigators of “CoIntelPro”, “disinformation”, among other accusations and insults.

In Summary:

On the one hand, five of the alleged signers of the warning:

· Claim they did not sign the Kennebunk Warning

· Say they did sign another document

· Independently claim the document signed involved impeachment

· Support 9/11 questions and another investigation

· Have not attacked the authors of this document

On the other side we have:

· Multiple accusations of "liar", personal attacks, divisive and inflammatory language (i.e. “wretched individuals”, etc), and unproven speculations about "fearful signers"

· No apologies for these accusations and ad-hominems

· Direct support for the highly dubious directed energy weapons (Fetzer, Tarpley, Craig Hill (citing Judy Wood), Daniel Abrahamson and Morgan Stack have all supported this theory in some form).

· Four individuals who appear to be associated with Lyndon Larouche

· No indications that the signatures will be removed from the warning. (update: now the names have an asterisk)

· Collective support for “next 9/11” warnings, with many involved in issuing previous warnings to the Kennebunkport controversy.

· Signatures shown on the warning (it is disputed that the document was signed by the anti-war activists)

Thanks to the good work of 911blogger Col. Jenny Sparks, other signers were contacted to provide more facts in this swirling controversy.

I would like to emphasize that while the truth of this matter has not yet been determined, the main issue is that of divisiveness against the anti-war activists.

Discrediting By Association: Undermining the Case for Patriots Who Question 9/11

Discrediting By Association: Undermining the Case for Patriots Who Question 9/11

by Victoria Ashley

http://911research.wtc7.net/essays/patriots_question/index.html

PatriotsQuestion911.com is not unique in its mixing of nonsense-advocates with real researchers, but due to this site's high visibility the need to address this issue is all the more important. Efforts to get these small needed changes -- for the sake of the basic credibility of the entire 9/11 community -- have been fruitless. Hence, in order to keep the public aware of the basic role of the insertions of nonsense into our work which sites like PatriotsQuestion911.com are ignoring, this essay was created.

As we enter the 6th Anniversary of the attacks, the nonsense advocates are meeting for their own conference about TV fakery, nukes, UFOs, and space weapons, meaning that essays such as this are unfortunately increasingly necessary to provide a basic resource for journalists, researchers, and average readers who are questioning the 9/11 attacks, but are coming upon ideas so absurd, so often, that it might seem like most of the entire 9/11 community is simply nuts. But if one looks closely one finds that, in general, these people also appear to have held reasonable jobs and have even won grants for tens of thousands of dollars from the government.

This basic contradiction which we see again and again -- nonsense combined with expert credentials or high competency -- is a red flag in which only two possible rationales reasonably exist: either the person has begun a tragic course of Alzheimers (or some other organic disorder of the brain) which has apparently not yet been diagnosed nor affected any of their other abilities to function independently, or they are intentionally protecting the official story by attempting to discredit those who are questioning it by association. There are other possibilities - i.e., ego, spite, ideology etc. -- but most of those necessitate such a level of reckless disregard for the truth that they amount to an intentional effort to discredit, nothing more.

Some will argue that such essays and research as this are only negative, waste time, and risk getting us too involved in debunking and divisiveness rather than the positive work we should be doing instead. Indeed, the individuals described in this essay would likely feel the same -- "Shut up about the disinformation already, and lets all get along!" This is the basis for Big Tent, an organizing strategy which tends to welcome all ideas, no matter their content, for purposes of "unity."

The truth is, each of us has our own path, interests, fascinations, and abilities, and we can each contribute our best work by following what we feel most strongly about. Sometimes writing about mis- and disinformation is a cathartic exercise which can allow researchers to move forward knowing they have done as much as they can do to expose the charades. I recall discussing disinformation briefly on stage at a 9/11 event while waiting for the main speaker to arrive. Audience members were confused about some of the information they'd recently learned that made no sense to them and someone brought up a question. When I explained a little about mis- and disinformation, the history of it, the examples we know of, the likely possibility that this may be at the root of the topic they were confused about, there was a palpable relief in the room, almost an audible sigh that went across people. It surprised me: people understood immediately and in a gut way, gaining a knowing look on their faces as if to say, "Ah, of course . . . now I get it." After such situations are resolved, I've noticed, events move forward positively. I've witnessed such relief in a number of audiences when false claims have been brought up -- "But I think nukes were what really caused those clouds at Ground Zero!" -- and quickly decapitated by individuals like Dr. Steven Jones, Jim Hoffman and architect Richard Gage.

We are engaged in a 2-front information war, and pretending that we are not won't make one side go away. There are more than enough of us for all the different types of efforts -- outreach, organizing, group building, physical evidence research, petitions, lawsuits, FOIAs, and refuting false claims -- to move forward in unison.

The good news is that more and more people are seeing the nonsense and are rejecting it openly in their posts to forums, in their own essays, on blogs, and in films. Creating a firewall between the genuine research and the nonsense will take more than ignoring nonsense, it will take uniting against it. And that takes courage, as anyone knows who has attempted to expose mis- and dis-information and has been met with vitriolic public attacks and threats.

Fetzer proves no 757 at the Pentagon with... 6 year old Liana Vines?

Caustic Logic has a response to Jim Fetzer's "Litmus test for rationality".[1]

“’We have had four lines of proof that no Boeing 757 hit the building,” [Fetzer] explained, all flawed, well-explained or seriously questioned elsewhere, and too boring to bother re-hashing in detail here; but briefly, 1) the too small hole and “the wrong […] kind and quantity of debris,” 2) the CCTV video that shows something smaller than a 757 he thinks, 3) ground effect, and 4) the unmarked lawn. These four tracks of reasoning prove to Fetzer, ‘conclusively, in my judgment - that no Boeing 757 hit the building.’”[2]

Unfortunately, as Caustic Logic has demonstrated, it’s only evidence when it’s legitimate evidence.  False and misleading claims do not constitute evidence—they constitute disinformation.

Most amusingly, Jim Fetzer suggests:

“James Hanson, a newspaper reporter who earned his law degree from the University of Michigan College of Law, has traced that debris to an American Airlines 757 that crashed in a rain forest above Cali, Columbia in 1995.”[3]

What’s the evidence for such a bold claim?  Caustic Logic says it best:

“Check out what this genius Hanson uses for evidence: a six-year old liana vine still embedded in the Pentagon "fuselage" metal!”

Proving no-757 at the Pentagon with “six year old liana vines”…?  What the heck—what kind of professor of logic would believe…?

After collecting these “smoking guns” and smearing the rest of the 9/11 truth movement with these absurd claims, Fetzer has the nerve to say:

“The Pentagon has become a kind of litmus test for rationality in the study of 9/11," Fetzer said. "Those who persist in maintaining that a Boeing 757 hit the building are either unfamiliar with the evidence or cognitively impaired. Unless," he said, “they want to mislead the American people. The evidence is beyond clear and compelling. It places this issue 'beyond a reasonable doubt'. No Boeing 757 hit the Pentagon.”

Fetzer, you failed this litmus test when you offered a “6 year old liana vine” as evidence of no-757 at the Pentagon.  Never mind that stuff about directed energy weapons.

This is huge… this is huge Judy.”[4]
